Tryout Info/Club Fees

New for 2024-2025 Season - Summer Tryouts Approved

The Badger Region voted to add an additional summer tryout window to the normal fall tryouts. Because many clubs are utilizing this summer tryout period, Southwest feels it has no choice in holding initial tryouts then. More information to come.

Please click the link to below to see specifics from Badger Region on the new guidelines.

Below is information from 2023-2024 tryouts

MEMBERSHIP PURCHASES

The process of purchasing memberships changed in 2021.  Most of your questions should be answered by starting at this page on Badger Region's website.

After Sept. 1, you may purchase a membership beginning here. This is an informational page to help you choose the right membership for your child.

In order to begin the purchase process, you will need to create a free SportsEngine account or login to your existing SportsEngine account (you may have one through other sports organizations that use SportsEngine). Click here for an overview of this process.

If a family has multiple players, they should have all their membership information in the same master account under a parent's email, using one set of login credentials (called a “family account”).  This is different than past seasons.  In the old system, all individuals had to have their own login.

You will want to choose a tryout membership ($10), or a season membership ($55). The tryout membership can be upgraded to a season membership once a player makes a team.

When you get to the checkout page, you will see two “transactions” that equal the total membership price.  One transaction represents the fees going to the Badger Region, and the other represents the fees going to USA Volleyball.  This is different than in the past.  You’ll still be charged the same amount – you’re just going to see an itemized breakdown.  You may also see two separate charges (totaling the amount of your membership) on a credit card statement.

All membership questions should be addressed to membership@badgervolleyball.org

what is the tryout process like?

Athletes will go through a series of drills and be evaluated by a number of coaches. Coaches do their best in the time allotted to select athletes who fit the needs of each position on their teams.

Most offers will be given out the first day, but some will be saved for athletes showing up on the 2nd day of tryouts. When athletes are given an offer, they and their parents will meet with the coach after the tryout to receive information. Athletes have until Monday night at 7pm to make their decision. A coach may only reach out to an athlete once, but athlete families can feel free to contact the coach or director as many times as they'd like with questions.

Coaches can only have 10 offers out at once, so they will have to wait to hear from athletes before possibly making other offers. When an athlete declines, coaches will call the next people on their depth charts. (For example, when a "1s" offer is declined, a coach will call someone who had a "2s" offer)

If an athlete doesn't receive an offer by 7pm Monday, it does NOT mean she will not receive an offer. Often coaches have to wait until that 7pm deadline to hear that girls declined, and then have to continue calling people. Generally, Southwest will have additional tryouts that week to finalize teams, so please keep attending any tryouts. It can be an exercise in patience and can be hard on both coaches and athlete families, but we work to find kids a home to play volleyball.

For Which Age Group Should You Register?

Please see the image below to be sure you are registering for the right age group. Generally 6th graders play 12s, 7th graders play 13s, and so on.

Club Dues

Girls' Teams

12s $1300

13s-17s Purple teams $1700

13s-18s White & Blue teams $1950

*Fee increase due to inflation and a recent change in rent costs, as well as the addition of a workout area in the facility.

*The main difference in fees for our teams is that our Blue and White teams may have slightly longer seasons due to tournament schedules. Most of them will participate in Badger Region Power League, which also adds expense and travel costs.
