GIRLS COACHES 2023-2024

Girls 17-Blue Head Coach

ANDREA  BAUER
4th year with Southwest 

Andrea finished her club volleyball career playing 2 years for Southwest. She went on to play 2 years at Madison College, where she received First Team all American awards, as well as N4C player of the year. She also earned First Team all Region honors, along with being placed on the Region IV All Tournament Team. She joined Southwest in 2020 after 3 years of club coaching at Wisconsin Performance and a year of assistant coaching at Madison College.  Andrea has also assisted at Mukwonago High School.

Girls 17-Blue Assistant Coach

KAYLA  SCHILTZ
1st year with Southwest 

Kayla joins her sister Andrea in leading the 17s this year. She is a special education teacher in Greenfield and a mom to two daughters. Kayla was a Mukwonago player before she spent 4 years playing club volleyball at UW-Stevens Point. She has coached 5th-8th grade and is still an active player in adult leagues.

KELLY ANN  SOTIROS
2nd year with Southwest 

Girls 16-Blue Head Coach 
KELSEY  JENSEN
3rd year with Southwest

Kelsey was a 4-year Varsity middle at Concordia and enjoyed the success of NCAA appearances and conference championships. Kelsey also earned all-conference honors, and Most Inspirational and Model of Excellence team awards. She is currently a science teacher at Martin Luther High School, where she also is the head varsity volleyball coach.  She spends her summers coaching sand volleyball and giving private lessons. She treasures memories and friends from her volleyball years, and looks forward to pushing these girls to be the best players and people they can be.

Girls 16-Blue Assistant Coach 
ARIANA  GLENETSKI
2nd year with Southwest
Ariana played libero at Concordia University for 4 years. During her time there, she made 2 NCAA appearances and was awarded All-Conference and the Model of Excellence awards. Ariana has previous coaching experience at the club level and for the Varsity Reserve team at Concordia. She is currently a physical therapist in Glendale, working in the outpatient orthopedic setting. She enjoys the opportunities she has to work with athletes both on and off the court.

TRISTEN  GUELIG
 5th year with Southwest

Tristen played volleyball her entire life, going from high school volleyball to club and intramural volleyball in college at UW-Madison. While there she earned a degree in Retail & Consumer Behavior, Business and Entrepreneurship. Tristen works at Kohl's Corporate as a Planning Manager. She has coached with Southwest at the 16s level for 5 years. She is currently an assistant Varsity coach at New Berlin West High School. Tristen spends her free time playing volleyball in leagues and tournaments around the area. 

Girls 16-White Assistant Coach 

MORIGAN STRUCK
1st year with Southwest

Morigan is new to Southwest this year after finishing her first season heading up the JV-2 team at New Berlin West. She recently graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in Architecture and is now a project manager for a local real estate company. In the past, she was a libero on her high school and club teams and now continues to enjoy the sport through recreational leagues. She is eager to continue her coaching career with Southwest and to keep the passion of volleyball thriving for future athletes.

TRYGVE SMALLEY
19th year with Southwest
Trygve is a familiar face around Southwest and the coaching world in general.  You may have seen him on the sidelines at New Berlin West coaching middle school and now high school varsity games. Previously, he coached at Greendale Martin Luther. Trygve has coached 14s-18s in his time at Southwest, runs a summer sand camp, and he also teaches many private lessons.

SAMANTHA LANDRY
1st year with Southwest
Samantha Landry is new to the Southwest coaching staff this year. Previously, she was a 3-year varsity setter at a suburban high school in Illinois. She played club volleyball for five years, playing in several different positions. She is currently a student at Carroll University, majoring in Physical Education and health sciences. She is looking forward to helping the girls grow into strong, well-rounded athletes and sharing her love for the sport with them!

DONNA BRICCO
3rd year with Southwest

Donna has coached at both St. John Vianney and St. Alphonsus. She is active in the CYM in scheduling and running tournaments. Still an active player herself, Donna previously coached club and is eager to kick off her 3rd year at Southwest.

ADAM STIKEL

31st year with Southwest

When most people think Southwest, they think of Adam. Club director for 30+ years, Adam has coached just about every age group at Southwest. Beyond that, Adam's coaching career includes time at Greendale Middle and High School, Oak Creek High School, and Milwaukee School of Engineering (1996-2012). Adam was most recently voted "Club Director of the Year" in the Badger Region for 2022.

ALLY SMELCER

1st year with Southwest

Ally is a Southwest alum, coming back to the club she played at for 4 years. She got into coaching in college and has been coaching club volleyball the past 5 years in another area. She is currently a middle and high school teacher in Pewaukee, where she also coaches a JV2 team. Ally still enjoys playing rec volleyball with her friends and is eager to join the Southwest staff!

SARAH BORTULIN
6th year with Southwest
Sarah is active in coaching private lessons and many of our youth and middle school camps, as well as coaching in Mukwonago. Sarah is a teacher, whose heart for education drew her to coaching. Beyond teaching volleyball fundamentals and game strategy, she loves using sports to help kids learn the bigger lessons in life - how to deal with adversity, how to be a good teammate, etc. She enjoys watching the kids make all the great memories that club volleyball provides. One of Sarah’s main hobbies is listening to volleyball Podcasts while she’s doing just about anything. She is a mother of 5 girls who have played for Southwest.

DEB GRAHN

5th year with Southwest

Deb has been coaching for 11 years and is starting her 5th year with Southwest. She has coached teams at multiple levels, including heading up our winter middle school skills clinics. Deb is excited to continue working with young athletes and help them prepare for high school level volleyball.

RATKA KARAC

1st year with Southwest

Ratka is another Southwest alum returning to the coaching side of things. She loved the culture of Southwest and appreciated the guidance she got from coaches, especially in  pursuing college athletics. Ratka attended Lewis University for Early Childhood Education as a dual sport NCAA Division II athlete, in which she participated in 2 years of volleyball and 3 years of track. An injury side-lined her.  Ratka loves traveling overseas to visit family in Serbia/Bosnia, and is excited to help prepare athletes for high school volleyball.

JULIA FISCHER
3rd year with Southwest
Julia is a former collegiate libero. She is active throughout the year at Southwest, coaching many private lessons. Last year, she enjoyed working with our successful 15s team, leading them to a 9th place finish at AAU Nationals. Volleyball was always a fun outlet for Julia and she loves helping others learn to enjoy the game. She is currently pursuing two Masters degrees, and is employed as a school librarian with the goal of working in academic or research librarianship in the future. In her free time, Julia enjoys spending time outside and reading.

RANDY VAN FLEET
3rd year with Southwest
Randy and Julia have made a great coaching combo and look forward to working with both our 12s and 13s this season. Randy has coached middle and high school athletics for over 25 years and is greatly enjoying his time back in the gym with daughter Julia.

LLOYD MUNSON
2nd year with Southwest

Lloyd is returning as a member of the Southwest coaching staff for his second year. After an exciting season last year, he is looking forward to using his experiences from coaching at Southwest and the Mukwonago Juniors program, as well as from officiating, to further develop the player's knowledge and enjoyment of the game. His energetic and positive approach to coaching facilitates learning new skills and progressing already acquired skills. Away from the facility he enjoys spending time with his wife, visiting his daughter, who is attending college in Florida, and being active outdoors or in the gym. GO SOUTHWEST!!

ANN MARIE TRAPP
8th year with Southwest

After years of being on and off the court, Ann started coaching when her eldest entered 4th grade and joined the local rec league. That was over 17 years ago. The love of the sport has kept her going, only now, as a coach. Ann promotes the importance of team synergy, along with individual growth and confidence building, by empowering the players with knowledge of the sport as well as the basics. She participates in continuing education, researching ways to help the players develop individually and as a team, to prepare them for future opportunities. A young team is made up of varying levels of skill and development, so keeping an open mind is essential. Former Assistant Coach of MATC Women’s volleyball team (2017-2021), and former coach for St. Matthias school (2009-2013). Impact and CAP II certified.

GRACE NERDAHL
1st year with Southwest
Grace is familiar with Southwest, as she just finished her playing career here. She returns to get her feet wet in the coaching department, learning under an experienced coach in Ann Marie.

Girls 12-Blue Head Coach 

JULIA FISCHER
3rd year with Southwest
Julia was primarily a libero throughout her high school career. She went on to play at UW-Lacrosse.  Julia is one of Southwest's most active coaches, doing private lessons outside of the club season. She is sure to teach strong fundamentals at our entry level team, as well as inspire the kids with the love she has for this sport. Julia is currently pursuing two Masters degrees, and is employed as a school librarian with the goal of working in academic or research librarianship in the future. When not in the gym, Julia loves spending time outside and reading.
